“Eyes are the windows to the soul”! They reflect your confidence and experience, your emotions and inner wealth. Over time, your stunning gaze may lose its luster…Doctor Benjamin Cozanet can help you get your sparkle back.
The skin around your eyes and lips, zones which are the most fragile and prone to aging, require special attention and care, to slow down the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to get rid of dark under-eye circles and bags.
Around the eye area, wrinkles referred to as crow’s feet appear over time, expression lines around the sides of the eyes due to the constant folding of the skin. Gradually, the folding movement on the skin around your eyes tends to worsen and the wrinkles deepen; tiny crow’s feet which show up in your early 30s end up betraying your age and aging your gaze.
Eyelid skin is the thinnest on the face and is also the most susceptible to sagging, and in certain cases, this excess skin creates a folding effect on the upper eyelid which tires and saddens the gaze.
For certain patients, fat cells accumulate over time under the eyelids resulting in bags.
For others, the skin sags across the orbital rim: the eye hollows out and dark circles appear. The dark circles are accentuated by the skin’s coloration which may be red or brown and darkened.
The eyebrows can sometimes droop as well, the temples hollow out, with a loss of definition along the brow arch, and that very definition of the brow arch is what gives more character to our gaze.
Certain cases require minor plastic surgery and others are better treated without any surgery.
If plastic surgery is recommended, the aesthetic medical treatments at Dr Cozanet’s clinic will only enhance the results and give your eyes back their sparkle.
How to treat crow’s feet around the eyes?
Crow’s feet wrinkles are a result of the “orbicularis oculi” muscle activity. They are intensified by the glare effect of light leading to a reflex and repetitive contraction of mimic muscles, creating the crow’s feet phenomenon.
Skinboosters à faire hyaluronic acid injections or mesotherapy injections (superficial micro injections) will plump up thinned-out skin and improve skin quality increasing hydration to allow better resistance to these repetitive muscle contractions around the eyes.
Micro-focused ultrasound with Ultherapy Prime®, increases the natural collagen production and skin elasticity, and smooths, lifts and improves the skin density around the eyes and lower and upper eyelids.
Endymed’s Focused 3DEEP RF, advanced radiofrequency technology and microneedling are specifically used to treat the eye contour zone. By firming the treated skin, the gaze opens for a more relaxed appearance.
Fractional CO2 lasers are highly recommended to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, but also around the lip zone. With each treatment, your skin gradually regenerates to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
This treatment aims to get rid of crow’s feet wrinkles and to lift the eyebrow tail which sags over time, for a more relaxed and refreshed gaze, as is the case with the frown lines between the eyebrows and the forehead lines.
Solutions for upper droopy eyelids
For sagging skin in the upper eyelid area and around the eyes, Dr Benjamin Cozanet employs micro-focused ultrasounds (Ultherapy Prime®), an alternative to more invasive surgical procedures (blepharoplasty), to create a lifted effect along the upper eyelid zone and the fading of periorbital wrinkles.
Ultherapy Prime® has been approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for its effectiveness and safety, based on clinical studies conducted on tens of thousands of patients worldwide.
The fractional CO2 laser can be used for fairer skins, its thermal effect results in skin tightening on the upper eyelids, after one or over multiple sessions, avoiding any sun exposure. The treatment is performed with the preliminary application of a topical anesthetic cream and the placement of corneal eye shields during the session.
PlexR, the acronym for Plasma Exeresis is a new internationally patented, non-invasive medical treatment which corrects excess skin without surgery and without damaging the surrounding tissues, delivering a small ionizing current(plasma) which will vaporize the skin.
The rise of temperature stimulates a fully controlled skin contraction and tightening, triggering an immediate retraction of the superficial skin layers, referred to as (“sublimation” ).
Via PlexR treatments, we can effectively treat eyelid sagging, in fact it’s like performing a medical blepharoplasty or “eyelid lift”, without any need for scalpels nor surgery.
PlexR can be also used for the inferior eyelids and crow’s feet wrinkles. It is suitable for fairer skin types, without any sun exposure and requires 2 to 4 sessions, following the application of a topical anesthetic cream.
In the case of extreme skin excess, the Doctor may refer you to an aesthetic ophthalmic surgeon to perform blepharoplasty surgery.
Solutions for the lower eyelids and the under-eye zone
Unlike the upper eyelids, the pathophysiology of the lower eyelids is far more complicated. For this very reason, the techniques and analysis of aging in this very particular zone have considerably advanced.
The eye is cushioned within its orbit by pads of fat covered by a membrane called the septum. Over time, the septum thins out and begins to sag, while deep fat bags begin to surface. This phenomenon becomes visible between 50-60 along with a sagging of the cheeks and undereye hollows which come together to give a tired look.
Therefore, with this symptomology and at this age, medical aesthetic care involves surgery to remove the fat in these bags while filling in the under-eye hollows by using the patient’s own fat (lipofilling), to restore youthfulness and radiance to the gaze without leaving the eyes sunken.
Malar bags or festoons are another form of bag (non-fatty but lymphatic) located below the under-eye circles and not at the lower eyelid level. They can be treated via micro-focused ultrasounds (Ultherapy Prime®)
For a younger patient, and as of 30, a hollow in the under-eye zone may already be visible and is mostly a hereditary issue. In this case, the treatment will be restricted to a simple hyaluronic acid injection, without any need for surgery while still guaranteeing long-lasting results.
How to get rid of dark circles under the eyes?
Carboxytherapy is an easy and fast treatment which uses the regenerating power of your own body to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes and to help firm the skin around the eye area.
The Carboxytherapy treatment consists of localized micro-injections of small quantities of medical carbon dioxide subcutaneously and intradermally in area specific zones. To offset the carbon dioxide increase, our body significantly increases the oxygen supply to that area. This increase of oxygen supply optimizes the tissue oxygenation process by activating cellular synthesis and tissue-wide repair.
Lumilight Peel (ENEOMEY) peeling is an effective radiance shield for the skin, treating skin irregularity, pigment imperfections such as melasma and the darkening of under-eye circles.
During each aesthetic medical visit, Dr Benjamin Cozanet conducts a thorough patient-centered interview, an in-depth examination, taking photographs to correctly analyze the aging causes and to guide you to the best treatment option(s) to enhance your eye area and gaze.
