Many parts of the body can be treated by laser to permanently remove hair.

More and more men and women have had enough of shaving and waxing to get smooth, and flawless skin. Hair removal is an unwelcome chore that we can get rid of thanks to laser hair removal. Laser is the top technique for permanent hair removal, providing enhanced comfort, durability and safety.

Say Farewell to razors, waxing and tweezers: it’s now possible to get rid of body hair in just a few sessions, not only destroying the hair but also hindering any regrowth. Doctor Benjamin Cozanet highly recommends this definitive and effective treatment which can change your life forever.

Patients will see the results in 4-6 treatments, depending on the targeted area. Several factors, like color, hair density and skin tone determine the required number of sessions.

Laser hair removal can be used on all body areas and skin types and even some facial zones.

Laser Hair Removal for Legs

½ or Full Legs? Your choice!

Laser hair removal for legs presents no specific technical difficulties. Some zones are more sensitive than others: the lateral sides of the knee, near the kneecap and sometimes the ankle area where skin is thinner.  For those who apply anesthesia cream prior to the session, there is no discomfort whatsoever.

The ½ legs laser hair removal requires 6-8 sessions, spaced 6-8 weeks apart for a full and definitive result. ½ legs includes knee and foot treatment.

For thighs, the treatment requires 8-10 sessions, often peach fuzz type hair can remain on these zones, so the thigh treatment is not always recommended by Doctor Benjamin Cozanet.

The average ½ legs session lasts 30 minutes and 1 hour for the full legs.

It’s hard to do without leg hair removal these days! Exposed daily, gorgeous legs are one of the sexiest parts of a woman’s body.

Bikini, Armpit, gluteal cleft /buttock laser hair removal

Bikini laser hair removal is widespread, despite its private and intimate nature, to avoid any irritation, ingrown hairs and excess hair growth on this sensitive area. This treatment zone is also affected by certain “trends”, which require high quality application and precision. More and more full bikini laser hair removal demands are coming in daily.

Several types of bikini hair removal are possible: from regular to full hair removal, the French bikini or the Brazilian bikini. It’s up to you to decide. Dr Benjamin Cozanet will not influence or judge your choice, you choose the option which pleases you the most.

The armpits are equally popular, for esthetic reasons or for pure hygiene and comfort. The armpit skin is very thin, and hair is often thicker, an exfoliation before the treatment and some moisturizing after (moisturizing cream) are recommended to avoid ingrown hairs and small bumps or pimples.

The session lasts 45 minutes. 6-8 sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart are required to obtain optimal results.

There are no risks, not for the skin (if it’s not tanned), nor for the inner organs (laser only acts on the skin’s surface).

Laser hair removal of the areola and stomach area

Women can’t bear hairiness on the bust or stomach, which makes them feel insecure and curbs their sexuality.

Bust area hair removal is possible and results tend to be very good, but the areola zone is a delicate area of the body, which can sometimes result in regrowth. Visible hair growth on the areola is common, frequently caused by a hormonal imbalance and sometimes due to genetic factors.  Without a hormonal treatment, the hair will continue to grow regardless of laser hair removal treatments. Long-term hair removal is viable but not permanent in this zone.  Even with the laser, areolas are difficult areas to treat. You’ll require 6-8 sessions to obtain results.

Hair growth on the stomach (abdominal line) can also be caused by a slight hormonal imbalance, whether temporary or more persistent.

Dr Benjamin Cozanet will help you find the best hair removal solution(s), whether it’s with a laser, or using targeted electrolysis on thicker hair, to avoid any risk of stimulating new hair follicles.

Laser Facial Hair Removal Zones

The session lasts 15 minutes. 6-8 sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart, guarantee optimal results.

Laser hair removal on the face is a frequent female request in aesthetic medicine. Facial hair, being a traditionally male characteristic, is very hard for women to accept.

Hair on the upper lip, chin and between the eyebrows can be treated on women by laser, on average 8-10 sessions, avoiding any sun exposure.

The other parts of the face (cheekbones, sideburns and temples) are to be considered with extreme caution depending on the age and the hair growth of each patient, because of the paradoxical risk of hair regrowth. The risk level is specific to age, hormonal balance, for which Dr Benjamin Cozanet may refer you to an endocrinologist to analyze the hair growth or recommend targeted electric hair removal (electrolysis) on thicker hair to avoid the risk of stimulating adjacent peach fuzz growth.

How permanent laser hair removal works

Laser hair removal emits a light beam which is absorbed by the melanin present in the hair and hair follicle. The light energy emitted by the laser hair removal, once absorbed by the follicle, is converted into heat, leading to its destruction while respecting the skin and surrounding structures.

Hair growth takes place in 3 phases: (anagen, telogen and catagen). These three hair cycle phases coexist in the same skin zone.  The anagen phase, the period of growth lasts anywhere from 1-3 months. The catagen phase is a short period of regression. The telogen phase, the rest period, lasts anywhere from several months to several years and eventually results in the hair falling out. Hair is only receptive to laser in the anagen (growth) phase. You must wait for hair to enter the anagen phase to destroy hair follicles.  For this reason, only 20% of the hair on the treatment zone will be destroyed in just one laser hair removal session. To treat all hair, you will require several sessions, according to the phase of the hair cycle in the affected area, positioned about 4-8 weeks apart.

Contraindications

Skin tanning is the main hair laser removal contraindication.
